8 Habits to Enrich Your Presentation Skills
1. Join Toastmasters.
As you may already know, Toastmasters is known worldwide. It helps you perfect your skills by enhancing public speaking. You will find yourself in front of people- other members- and in most cases, you will have a specific time to talk about a certain theme. Leadership skills are to be mastered and this is the opportunity. You will be able to prepare a certain topic, too. You will dispose of shyness as well so it is a magnificent opportunity.
2. Dale Carnegie Courses
The Course is not only about speaking and you will learn much more in the 14 weekly sessions included in the package. You don't need to limit yourself! Get up and start working on your presentation skills now.
3. Find opportunities at work.
You can always find alternatives to pump your skills. You cannot expect someone to come knock at your door. You should get ready to go get them! You can always ask for extra tasks at work. Speak to your boss and let him or her know that you are interested in other activities. Maybe you will get an opportunity to speak in front of an audience. Small meeting are always a good option.
4. Search for opportunities outside office.
Joining social groups like church or a club and presenting there or actively participating in committees or teams also give ample chance to develop our skills.
5. Obtain feedback.
Whenever you speak in public, try to ask someone so that you can learn and perfect. Ask a trusted friend or colleague to tell you what they saw, heard and observed. Ask one of them to provide you feedback after they are in your audience.
6. Make a video recording of yourself speaking.
It is always important to be able to see your body language and the way you actually speak. Recording yourself is always a good idea! This will enable you to enhance yourself without taking the help from others and sometimes it helps a lot for the people who are a bit shy.
7. One thing at a time.
Choose to work on just one thing at a time. Pick one thing to especially, consciously work on each time you present. Doing this will help you improve quickly and consciously. Be sure to tell those you are asking for feedback from to look for these key focus areas too!
8. Go Karaoke!
This is a fun and interesting idea. If you sing in public and you get people to note you and respect you, then everything will go smooth! Your presentations will be amazing in no time.
